According me its worst national from all nationals i attend. On first day cycle hits a player who walking in the back of goal post, he injured very hard and got 2 fractures in his left leg. Expect the bad things its very great nationals who want to see the great – 2 cycle polo games.

Here are the results of all 3 cups played at Puri, Orissa

30th Junior Boys National Championship

Finally Chattisgarh got a win over Kerala in Junior which get them there 1st Gold in Juniors. Up manage to safe there silver again and Kerala get bronze by defeating West Bengal in bronze medal match.

13th Junior Girls Nationals Championship

Like Boys Chattisgarh girls team played tremendous and win the gold medal by defeating Kerala in final and Maharastra girls wins the bronze.

6th Federation Cup

In the presence of DD Sports team the final of Federation cup is played between top men nationals cycle polo teams Indian Air Force and Territorial Army. From the starting of match both team player shown there great polo skills but as the match going the player start playing harsh game because of that some of players got injured and umpires need to stop the match. After a very serious situation umpires and technical committee did a meeting in which they take decision to not allow 1 – 1 player of both teams because of that both team played with only 3 – 3 players. Indian Air Force wins the match and 6th Federation cup too. Kerala got the 3rd place by defeating Chattisgarh in 3rd 4th match.

Number one team of India Territoral Army won the 31st Senior Nationals Cycle Polo Championship held at Bhilai(Chhattisgarh). Air Force won the 5th Federation Cup also held at same venue.

Chhattisgarh won the 24th sub junior by beating Kerala in Final.

In Cycle Polo you need to hit ball from right hand either your right handed or left handed.

We can take ball from both side but you cant change stick to other hand still same (Right hand). This means there is very hard parctise need for this game.

This is front shot and very important shot in this game you need to play safe while hitting.

This is line up pic where you can the player from both side will ride cycle through the “T” drawn in center. One team will hit left side and one will hit right side. Right and left side is decided by Toss.

This time oman is defending ball but he is on right side of the ball so he will use left side.

Cycle which is use in India. As you can see this is normal Indian cycle but very strong. In India we dont use any type of gears and disk brakes in our cycle. Everything which is not use to ride cycle is removed like mud guards, carrier, stand, chain cover etc. As many player also dont have front brake in there cycle because this is in right side so there is danger to hit brake in hand.

   The game was invented by an Irishman, in 1891. That same year the first cycle polo match was played between The Scalp and the Ohne Hast C.C..

Towards the end of the 19th century the game reached Great Britain, USA and France. The first international match was played between Ireland and England in 1901. Cycle polo was an Olympic event in the 1908 London Olympics with Ireland winning the gold beating Germany.

The sport reached its peak of popularity in Great Britain during the 1930s with the introduction of the regional leagues. Cycle polo also flourished in France during this period with the establishment of the French league. Internationals between France and Great Britain were held regularly. However the second world war marked the beginning of the demise of cycle polo in Britain. The sport managed to hang on in France though, with league championships held regularly till today.

The 1980s saw the rise of two new powers in cycle polo, India and USA. The Cycle Polo Association of India was officially created in 1966 and the Bicycle Polo Association of America was created in 1994. International cycle polo matches staged a comeback in the 90s with the first world championship organized in 1996 in USA. Teams from India, USA and Canada participated with India winning the title. The next championship was held in 1999 in Vancouver, Canada which was also won by India. From then on, the championship became a regular event held every year.

The 2004 championship was won by the USA, with teams from India, Canada, France and Pakistan participating.

Today there is organized cycle polo being played in Argentina, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and USA.

Cycle polo was officially recognized by the International Cycling Union in 2001. Starting in 2007, a variation of cycle polo so-called Urban Cycle Polo is getting considerable media attention in the USA and Canada. This game is less formal and has rules adapted to accommodate urban environments.
